Internal wall construction

Internal & Partition Walls

Aircrete partition walls

High-performance internal walls

H+H aircrete blocks provide a robust solution for internal partition walls, suitable for both loadbearing and non-loadbearing applications. Offering strength, acoustic performance and excellent fixing capability, aircrete provides a durable alternative to traditional studwork systems.

Why use aircrete for internal walls?

Strength & durability

Provides a robust and durable alternative to traditional stud wall construction.

Acoustic performance

Helps provide effective sound insulation for homes, apartments and other buildings.

Fixing capability

Provides a solid substrate for securely fixing cabinets, shelving, TVs and other fixtures.

Lightweight construction

Delivers the benefits of masonry construction at a lower weight than dense concrete.

Structural design

Supporting internal partition walls

Aircrete partition walls can be supported by timber joists for appropriately designed non-loadbearing applications, as well as steel or concrete beams, concrete floors and beam-and-block flooring systems. Correct structural design is essential to ensure suitable load distribution and long-term performance.

Finishing aircrete internal walls

Plaster finishes

Most plaster types can be applied to aircrete blockwork, with preparation and application carried out in accordance with the appropriate internal plastering guidance.

Dry lining & spray plaster

Aircrete is compatible with dry lining systems, while accurately constructed walls can also accommodate thin spray-applied plaster finishes.

Tiling

Ceramic tiles can be applied over plaster or render, or directly to sufficiently accurate aircrete blockwork.

Fixing performance

Secure fixings for everyday applications

Aircrete provides excellent fixing performance for fixtures such as cabinets, shelving and TVs. Appropriate plugs and screws should be selected for the required load, with fixings positioned away from block edges and installed without overtightening to maintain pull-out performance.

Acoustic performance

Effective sound insulation between rooms

Aircrete partition walls can contribute to effective internal sound insulation, particularly when combined with masonry floors, structural beams and solid wall systems. This makes aircrete suitable for homes, apartments and commercial buildings where acoustic separation is an important design consideration.
