Performance of Aircrete
Discover the thermal, acoustic, fire and structural performance that makes aircrete a versatile building material.
Build with Celcon Blocks using traditional mortar methods for familiar, proven masonry construction.
A well-established masonry construction method widely understood across the industry.
Suitable for use with almost the complete Celcon Block range.
Correctly specified cement:lime:sand mortars provide a strong bond with aircrete blockwork.
Celcon Blocks can be used across a wide range of internal and external wall applications.
Suitable Celcon products can also be used with traditional mortar below DPC.
Combine traditional masonry construction with the established performance characteristics of H+H aircrete.
Mortar designation (iii) is the strongest that should normally be used with traditional blockwork above DPC, provided structural requirements do not demand a stronger mix and the masonry is protected from saturation and freezing during construction.
Mortar designation (ii) — 1:½:4 cement:lime:sand — may be used below DPC, particularly where there is a risk of freeze/thaw. Designation (iii) may also be appropriate depending on soil conditions.
As a general rule, cement:lime:sand mortars provide a stronger bond than plasticised mortars of similar compressive strength.
